Tarun Tejpal Case: NWMI Welcomes Bombay High Court Verdict
The Network of Women in Media, India welcomes the verdict of the Bombay High Court Goa Bench, which today convicted journalist Tarun Tejpal for the rape of a young colleague in 2013.
The court sentenced Tejpal to 10 years rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of over Rs 10 lakhs on him. It set aside the 2021 judgement of a Sessions Court in Mapusa, Goa, which had acquitted the former Editor-in-Chief of Tehelka magazine.
NWMI has stood in solidarity with the survivor throughout and reiterates its consistent stand for justice for survivors of sexual harassment and sexual violence at the workplace.
