A joint meeting of as many as six journalist bodies took place at the Press Club of India (PCI) in New Delhi to express deep concern at the draft amendment to the Information Technology Rules 2026, and demanded that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeiTy) withdraw them in totality.

Far from protecting the rights of transgender persons, the amendments seek to persecute trans persons across India.
