Local Networks

The NWMI was born on January 30, 2002 at the end of a three-day national workshop on / for Indian women in journalism held at the India International Centre, New Delhi.

NWMI has coordinators or representatives of local networks across the country. Local networks associated with the NWMI are autonomous and have evolved their own identities, structures and modes of functioning. They carry out programmes in keeping with local priorities. Through their informal association with the national network, members of local groups are loosely connected to a larger community of colleagues across the country, gaining strength and confidence from each other’s knowledge and experiences.
