Sushmita and Disha Shetty of the Network of Women in Media, India, were among winners of the 2024 Covering Climate Now Journalism Awards. Organisers said CCNow received more than 1,250 entries, from journalists in dozens of countries working in every medium. Three winners were selected in each of 14 subject-based categories.
Sushmita won the award under the category of ‘Justice’ for her story, Why Local Initiatives May Be Key to Climate Change Adaptation.
Disha Shetty won the award under the category of ‘Health’ jointly with Geoffrey Ondieki and Aie Balagtas See for their story, Climate Change Puts More Women at Risk for Domestic Violence.
