Dhanya Rajendran Presented BRP Bhaskar Excellence Award for Outstanding Journalism

Dhanya Rajendran, Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of The News Minute, and member of the Network of Women in Media, India, was presented the BRP Bhaskar Excellence Award for Outstanding Journalism.

Dhanya Rajendran, Editor-in-Chief and co-founder of The News Minute, and member of the Network of Women in Media, India, was presented the BRP Bhaskar Excellence Award for Outstanding Journalism.

The citation recognised Dhanya Rajendran for consistently upholding “the values of fearless, people-centric, and accountable journalism” and commended her leadership under which The News Minute has “emerged as one of South India’s most respected digital news platforms, noted for its in-depth reporting on social justice, governance, women’s rights, and issues affecting children.” It noted investigations into India’s electoral bonds scheme and large-scale voter list manipulation scams, and her role as the founding Chairperson of DIGIPUB News India Foundation.

The award is instituted in memory of renowned journalist Babu Rajendra Prasad Bhaskar, popularly known as BRP Bhaskar, and given by the Bhaskar Foundation. He served in senior editorial roles in several media outlets including The Hindu, The Statesman, and Deccan Herald. An acclaimed columnist, he was a critical voice in human rights issues. Congratulations, Dhanya!
