Romita Saluja, a member of the Network of Women in Media, India, won the Best International/Wire Coverage award instituted by Save the Children, for an investigation published earlier this year with The Guardian Long Read, which revealed how mining companies in Rajasthan came up with a workaround to keep employing children from vulnerable migrant communities in conditions of modern slavery.

The awards’ organisers stated that “the article sparked legal investigation against a multinational, and became a central reference in a roundtable conference in London, urging businesses to address child labour in their supply chains.”

Congratulations, Romita!
