Membership
The Network of Women in Media, India (NWMI) is an inclusive community which welcomes as members women (and those who identify as women or gender fluid ) presently working in the media in any medium – print, audio, video and digital, including photojournalists – as well as media scholars/researchers/faculty. People who are formal members of any political party, or in advertising, PR and with any other purely commercial connection to the media do not qualify for membership on account of possible/ potential conflict of interest.
We strive to be a safe and open space for members to engage in healthy debate and discussion, without personal attacks or hate speech.
Members are expected to
- Commit to the core values of the NWMI: gender equity, plurality, secularism, respect for human rights and social justice, nondiscrimination and democratic, constitutional values.
- Respect and defend freedom of expression, media freedom, ethics and equity.
- Adhere to code of conduct of non-discrimination on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, caste, class, religion, region, ethnicity, age or any other social hierarchies.
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of internal discussions.
- Stand in solidarity with women journalists.
