Local Networks

The Network of Women in Media, India was born on 30 January 2002, at the end of a 16-month process that included three regional workshops and a three-day national meeting of Indian women in media.

NWMI has coordinators or representatives of local networks across the country. Local networks associated with the NWMI are autonomous and have evolved their own identities, structures and modes of functioning. They organise programmes in keeping with local priorities. Through their informal association with the national network, members of local groups are loosely connected to a larger community of colleagues across the country, gaining strength and confidence from each other’s knowledge and experiences.

NWMI has chapters in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Pune, Goa, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha and the North East (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya).
