The Network of Women in Media, India, condemns THE TRANSGENDER PERSONS (PROTECTION OF RIGHTS) AMENDMENT BILL, 2026, which was introduced in the Lok Sabha by the Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Virendra Kumar on 13 March 2026, and passed despite serious opposition to its provisions on 24 March 2026. Far from protecting the rights of transgender persons, the amendments seek to persecute trans persons across India.
