The Network of Women in Media, India (NWMI) invites applications for the NWMI Fellowship 2025.
This needs-based fellowship supports women journalists from marginalised and minority communities, working in challenging situations, remote areas, or conflict zones, often without regular pay or proper equipment. The fellowship is open to reporters, editors, sub-editors, photojournalists, video journalists, producers, fact checkers, and persons involved in any aspect of journalism. It is open to both freelance and staff journalists who are members of NWMI.
Supported by voluntary contributions from NWMI members, the fellowship offers a stipend of Rs 10,000 per month for one year, along with mentorship from fellow journalists if desired.
Eligibility: Open to NWMI members who have been members of the network for at least one year. There is no upper age limit, anyone over the age of 18 can apply.
Application Process: Send a note in any language explaining why you should receive the fellowship and how you plan to utilise it to [email protected].
Stipend: Rs 10,000 per month; a total of Rs 1.2 lakh for one year.
Expectations: Fellows are expected to produce four pieces of work for the NWMI website (one every quarter) and contribute to the network’s activities during the fellowship year.
Mentorship: The selected fellow can opt for a mentor to guide them in their professional journey through the fellowship period.
