Brunch column – sexist underbelly of Indian politics

Now this is a good piece from columnist Seema Goswami in Bruch – HT’s weekend lifestyle magazine. Now, that’s interesting in itself as we don’t need to look for women candidates in the news section alone…we can stumble upon them in the lifestyle sectons too!
Nonetheless, the column makes important points about the high profile women in politics and how they are attacked, giving examples of the attacks on actors Nagma and Gul Panang.
But I wish it had gone into the political structures within the parties these candidates represent. Also, on why they were chosen in the first place. But then, it wouldn’t make it to the lifestyle pages, would it?
