The National Foundation for India Presents the 14th National Media Fellowship

Programme: Giving Voice to the Unheard

The National Foundation for India announces the 14th National Media Fellowship Programme.

These fellowships allow young, mid-career journalists take time off from their routine beats to research and publish articles/photo essays on issues concerning the less privileged that need to be high on our society’s agenda.

The fellowships support the pursuit of in-depth, creative field research on these concerns and writing about them with adequate evidence – qualitative and quantitative – to impact public policy and the domain of social consciousness.

The Rs. 1 lakh fellowships will be awarded to print journalists out of which, two fellowships will be awarded for projects, which are focused on conditions in rural areas. Two fellowships will be awarded to photojournalists. Additionally fellowships under the following categories will also be awarded this year:

1.Fellowships to print journalists working in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka to write and publish articles on Malnutrition/Food Security and the Millenium Development Goals.

2.Fellowships to print journalists to research and publish articles on Distress Seasonal Migration and Education of Deprived Children.

3.One fellowship to a photojournalist to work on the issue of Distress Seasonal Migration.

Journalists from small and regional language publications and non-metro areas are encouraged to apply. Women journalists are particularly welcome. Applicants must have demonstrated commitment to the development concern of the less privileged in society.
