Awards to honor South Asian e-content for development

Deadline: July 15 2008

New Dehli-based Digital Empowerment Foundation (DEF) invites nominations from South Asian countries for the Manthan Award 2008, to recognize the best e-content for development, including in the categories of news and community broadcasting.

The Award recognizes the great impact that Information Communication Technology (ICT) is having on the development sector, including computer, Internet, community radio, audio-video, and other gadgets and components, such as blogging.

Winners in 2007 included a community broadcasting program that addresses citizen grievances and an online program that provides farmers up-to-date expert advice in crop management.

The Award, after its four years of interventions in India, has now decided to cover South Asian Countries, namely, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
