Women journalists strike work in Spain

The "Feminist Strike" that took place in many Spanish cities on International Women's Day 2018 included a strike by female journalists.  Some 8,000 women journalists signed a manifesto called “Journalists On Strike,” which was read out during the demonstration. For the first time, women television hosts, radio presenters and newscasters decided to turn off their studio microphones and instead voice their protest on the streets. They were calling attention to the lack of gender balance in decision-making positions in media organisations, the persistent gender wage gap, discrimination and harassment in the workplace, and gender bias in news coverage.
